FROM WALK TO PIAFFE:

Tendon Based Movement for horses

This Self-Paced Online Course is a Real BOMB! You are going to learn how to turn kinetic horizontal energy of your horse’s movement into the vertical energy needed for collection and piaffe. You are going to experience first-hand together with your horse how entering Tendon Based Movement betters all gaits for healthy & spectacular performance for horses of all breeds & ages.

Teaching piaffe from walk by developing and expanding horse’s ability to store energy in tendons is Anna’s signature technique for teaching & improving piaffe.

Anna’s unique technique From Walk to Piaffe improves movement patterns and character of horses of all disciplines, age, sex and level of experience. It is an answer to how to prepare the horse multidimensionally to excel in life and training, it improves character, attitude, and physical performance and takes out on the surface TRUE SELF of the horse, because to do something well at this level of engagement, everything that is not supporting life, is a character imperfection, a pose or an attitude… everything artificial — has to simply disappear. The trainer meets his horse for REAL, naked and raw, as he is in his deepest Self: pure, honest, engaged, proud and beautiful.

  • Teaching piaffe reveals the horse’s true character,
  • Teaching piaffe removes layers of artificial learned poses, and connect the horse with his True Self. The horse can piaffe well only when his physical expression is supported by emotional and mental alignment,
  • Teaching piaffe teaches the horse how to engage and spend energy while maintaining a light attitude and positive emotions for all future activities done on high level of energy and heart rate,
  • Good Piaffe training led through development and relaxation at the walk, teaches the horse the principles of the tendon based movement and improves all basic gaits of the horse at once and at the same time,
  • Anna’s signature Piaffe Training From Walk to Piaffe teaches the horse how to improve his walk, and then how to transit without stopping (without reducing energy) to piaffe by changing distribution of the kinetic energy in the tendons from horizontal to vertical. Thanks to this skill the horse is able to use better walk to more energetic and expressive piaffe (faster run, higher jump! Laws of physics!!).

The Key of Anna’s “From WALK to PIAFFE” Program is to clear the walk from tensions in such a specific way which allows activation of the movement pattern based on the accumulation and release of the energy from the horses tendons.

From this place Anna uses her signature Conscious Relaxation Techniques for horses once again to teaches the horse how to convert the kinetic energy stored in the tendons into vertical energy needed for piaffe and collection. From this place Piaffe develops, From this place the horse understands how to use his body to support vertical energy distribution.

This Online Course not only teaches the piaffe horse, it literally changes all the gaits thanks to the fact that the horse is learning the technique of entering tendon-based movement pattern and converting kinetic energy into vertical energy of the new movement.

The BASIC OF THE PROGRAM is to guide the horse in learning piaffe in such a way as to cleanse its character and prepare it comprehensively: not only physically but also mentally, and emotionally to be healthy, engaged and cooperative horse: to be a sincere, giving, problem-free athlete.

Many people make the mistake of treating piaffe as a skill which they introduce way too late to the training of their horse, and then they often encounter resistance and problems caused by the fact that the horse has accumulated various behaviours, tensions and resulting from them training poses (behavioural attitudes) that make training difficult for psychological reasons. Owners of such horses say they won’t teach the piaffe because it stresses and annoys the horse, instead of noticing that piaffe is barely the context in which the horse’s general annoyance, learned and acquired training poses, tensions and caused by them difficulty and inflexibility simply come to the surface and can be seen.

We strongly encourage everyone to introduce piaffe lessons as early as possible in order to PURIFY the horse’s character from adopted, learned or innate poses and behaviors that later make it difficult to work and live with a given horse. The system we propose not only focuses on teaching new patterns of movement and use of the body, but above all it is focused on building such a partner, such a horse athlete, whom the rider wants to see STRONG, DECIDED AND PROUD – because he trusts him and knows that the horse has CRYSTAL CLEAR THOUGHTS, CHARACTER and HEART.

In this Online Course you are going to learn:

FIRSTLY WE ARE GOING TO SHOW YOU HOW TO TEACH A GOOD WALK:
— the horse learns how to walk using the tendons,
— the horse learns how to use the energy from the tendons and pass it along the body (tendons work in two different places: legs and back), this should be taught only at the walk. You need to bring the horse to a point where the horse has stored so much energy in his tendons that the walk becomes almost totally vertical.

FROM THERE, WE ARE GOING TO TEACH A GOOD PIAFFE:
— A good piaffe is a movement on the tendons with an active, relaxed and flexible back,
— A good piaffe is a movement in which the legs work like rubber balls and the back remains active and the energy from the legs is released through the back forward, which gives the horse a lightness in the front. As a result of that, the horse can open the chest and actively add bounce (begin to use tendons for movement) from the front legs.

FROM THERE, THE HORSE LEARNS HOW TO USE THE SAME TENDON-BASED MOVEMENT PATTERN TO IMPROVE TROT & CANTER:
— the horse learns how to use the tendons in the legs and back for movement, and how to coordinate such movement in the piaffe, and then learns how to use it at trot to trot and passage, and at canter to collect.
— the horse learns how to switch from a pattern of movement based on the activity of the muscles to a pattern of the movement based on cumulating, storing and releasing energy from the tendons – this movement is lighter, more rhythmic, more dynamic and healthier for the horse !

In the piaffe, the horse finds HIS TEMPO at which the horse is able to enter the tendon based movement. Such TEMPO already can be observed at the walk when storing energy in the tendons is being activated, but the horse fully discovers it at the piaffe.

KEY POINTS OF “FROM WALK TO PIAFFE” ONLINE COURSE:

ONE UNIQUE TEMPO

The movement on the tendons has a specific pace, which results from the physical parameters of the horse’s body and each horse will have its pace of movement on the tendons a little different depending on the physical parameters of the tendons of that given horse. The task of the trainer AND the horse is to find this one unique TEMPO for each horse and teach the horse to move within the same TEMPO at every gait.

When doing bad piaffe, based on jumping or shifting from foot to foot, the horse can do so at any tempo and can learn to change the tempo of such movement (such a horse can piaffe slower, and quicker). In such training, when the trainer can influence the TEMPO of the horse, and teach the horse to piaffe at different tempos, such piaffe does not activate tendons, only muscles, and teaches the horse only to jump from foot to foot with a tensed back. This teaches the horse on the long run to block the flow of the energy through the back and work with the clenched pelvis, which leads to development of the arthritis later on in life of the horse.

SYMMETRY

The second clue that the piaffe movement is correct is that the falling phase and the rising phase are SYMMETRICAL – like a ball bouncing off the ground. The horse goes down as fast as it goes up. This gives the impression of regularity and lightness and causes relaxation of the muscles throughout the horse’s body.

Movement on the tendons is healthier because it generates the least loads for the body. During the movement on the tendons, overloads in the horse’s joints are the smallest. The horse’s body is built in such a way as to allow and promote movement on the tendons – so that the different groups of tendons absorb well the moment when the horse takes off the ground and falls to the ground to bounce back. As a result of this movement, there is very little overload on the horse’s joints.

Movement on the tendons is healthier but more demanding for the muscles, so it must be introduced gradually and take breaks to let the muscles rest.

FRESHNESS

It is very important not to continue training when the horse is tired (muscles are tired), then such training is counterproductive:

In tendon movement, it is the tendons that move the bones and move the body, but it is the muscles that keep the tendons in tension so that they can accumulate and release energy to create movement. This is a completely different task for the muscles than moving the limb directly (as in learning to move from foot to foot). Therefore, correct piaffe on the tendons must be learned gradually, allow the muscles to develop and take a lot of breaks, and never train beyond the horse’s capabilities due to how quickly his muscles tire.

ENTERING NEW MOVEMENT PATTERN

Teaching movement on the tendons is teaching the horse to move from a movement pattern based on muscle work to a movement pattern based on the so-called THROW: Throwing movement pattern – a tendon is much faster than a muscle (hence we know that horses move on tendons when they want to do something well and efficiently – by calculation!). The muscle works completely differently: in the muscle-based movement pattern, the muscle contracts and expands, and in the THROW-based movement pattern – the muscle practically remains the same length all the time, only the INTERNAL TENSION OF THE MUSCLE changes.

This affects the tension in the body: horses do not move in a tendon-based movement pattern because they are TOO TENSIONed, in order to move effectively on the tendons, the horse must have a relaxed body. Just like a human athlete, in order to throw a discus far, he must have a relaxed body and make this move on the tendons.

The movement on the tendons cannot be modified, it can be discovered and CLEANSED through conscious relaxation.

In tendon-based movement, the energy of movement is important. Theoretically, energy can be added very easily, in practice it requires colossal skills from the trainer and the horse:

WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO LEARN:

During this Self-Paced Online Course you are going to learn that it is enough to increase the kinetic energy of the horse’s forward movement and use this energy to transfer it to the energy stored in the tendons to enter piaffe, which is an exclusively vertical movement (there is no horizontal component).

You are going to to learn how to switch from kinetic energy to potential energy by collecting kinetic energy in the tendons and changing its vector from horizontal to vertical. This is a very important and extremely difficult skill that develops the horse’s ability to use the tendons and, as a result, improves the horse’s movement in all gaits and teaches good piaffe.

You are going to learn how to teach your horse THIS EXACT SKILL of taking more kinetic energy onto the leg and converting it to the vertical energy. When the horse knows this skill then moving in collection is very easy, it becomes a natural second step.

You are going to learn how to work at the walk, and how to improve horse’s walk in such a way, to discover through progressive releasing of the horse’s tensions, how to enter movement that allows entering the Tendon Based Movement and connected with it UNIQUE TEMPO of the movement of the horse. Such TEMPO, once discovered, will remain the rider’s saint Graal that the rider will strive to maintain in trot, canter and at walk in all exercises and through all work in order to sustain the ability of the horse to collect energy in the tendons and release it from there on to allow relaxed, powerful, explosive yet absolutely calm and beautiful movement of the horse: COLLECTION.
