This is something that happens everyday. To me and to many of OneHorseLife Students:
Horses who don’t want to leave the arena.
Horses who don’t want to finish their riding sessions.
Horses who don’t want to be lead back to paddocks, because they prefer to stay with you (on top of staying with the herd).
IT HAPPENS BECAUSE BEING TOGETHER HAS A PURPOSE.
And this purpose is changing YOU.
The pain and pleasure, the boredom and fun for the horse is not caused by pieces of the equipment, neither by the techniques of the person who operates them. It is inflicted by THE PERSON, and through their awareness that stands behind everything they do.
Horses know that their situation will not change with the change of the equipment, philosophy behind the trainings, but with the change of the person who is with the horse.
If the horse has to stay with the same person, this change has to happen within the person’s Awareness.
This applies to all of the equipment and to the lack of equipment as well. It’s very easy to change the equipment without changing one’s self and think that things got solved. This is the true tragedy of many horses, and this is why so many horses are closed within themselves. Simply because they see that people around them have changed EVERYTHING THEY COULD, without changing themselves.
On the other hand, your horse can enjoy being with you and can feel appreciated, respected and FREE TO SPEAK when you change and become ready to hear it. Then you can have such a finish of your trainings as the one below, no matter if you train on the snaffle, curb bit, rope halter, bitless bridle or if you do not train at all. Your horse will want to continue. Simply because YOUR HORSE WILL HAVE A PARTNER TO CONTINUE IT TOGETHER WITH.
