FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

OneHorseLife is a complete educational system for developing healthier, more balanced, more expressive horses through Conscious Relaxation, Residual Tensions Release, Anna’s Riding Method, and Tendon-Based Movement.

Instead of concentrating only on exercises, corrections, muscular strengthening, or behavioural control, OneHorseLife helps the owner or trainer understand how unnecessary tension affects the horse’s nervous system, movement, posture, communication, and performance.

The purpose is not simply to make the horse calmer. It is to help the horse become more physically available, body-aware, elastic, confident, and capable of performing with less unnecessary effort.

No. OneHorseLife teaches Performance and Residual Tensions Release based Relaxation: relaxation that remains available during movement, training, riding, collection, jumping, and demanding athletic activity.

A horse does not need to become passive in order to relax. The goal is to reduce the unnecessary tensions that interfere with the desired activity while preserving energy, motivation, responsiveness, and expression.

In OneHorseLife, relaxation is not the opposite of performance. It is one of the foundations that allows energy to travel through the horse’s body more efficiently.

The right starting point depends on your horse’s body, behaviour, training history, current difficulties, and your own goals and experience.

For example:

  • Optimal Performance Program teaches the horse Conscious Relaxation.
  • RTRT focuses on releasing residual tensions through precise contact with the bit.
  • Anna’s Riding Method develops the rider’s seat, hands, balance, communication, and ability to support the horse without creating unnecessary tension.
  • W.E.A.K. Back focuses on the back, topline, posture, kinetic chains, and Tendon-Based Movement Activation.
  • OneHorseLifePLUS provides a structured 12-month pathway through relaxation, biomechanics, groundwork, riding, and Tendon-Based Movement.
  • OneHorseLifeONE provides lifetime access to the complete personal-level OneHorseLife education, including current and future courses.

Because several pathways may appear relevant to the same horse, the most reliable starting point is a consultation with a OneHorseLife expert. During the consultation, your situation is assessed and translated into a clear sequence of recommended next steps.

OneHorseLife education can support many different horses, including young horses, leisure horses, competitive athletes, horses returning to work, and older horses whose training needs to be adapted thoughtfully.

It may be especially relevant when a horse:

  • repeatedly becomes tense during training;
  • struggles with contact, balance, posture, or suppleness;
  • has an underdeveloped topline or inactive back;
  • becomes anxious, defensive, resistant, or emotionally unavailable;
  • appears strong but moves with effort or compensation;
  • has stopped progressing through conventional training;
  • loses freedom and expression under the rider.

The appropriate technique and level must always be selected for the individual horse. OneHorseLife courses are educational and are not a substitute for veterinary diagnosis or treatment. Pain, injury, lameness, or sudden behavioural changes should always be assessed by an appropriately qualified professional.

Not for every pathway.

Some programs are designed to introduce owners and riders to the system step by step. For example, W.E.A.K. Back is presented as a self-study starting point that does not require previous OneHorseLife experience.

Other programs are more advanced. From Walk to Piaffe, professional certification pathways, and deeper applications of RTRT are more appropriate for experienced riders, trainers, therapists, or highly committed students.

You do not need to know everything before beginning. You do need to be willing to observe carefully, follow the process, practise consistently, and reconsider some traditional assumptions about training and movement.

Yes, OneHorseLife online education gives you more than a collection of disconnected videos.

OneHorseLife self-study courses include theory, detailed demonstrations, training protocols, written materials, equipment explanations, implementation plans, and practical examples with different horses. All self-study online courses also provide lifetime access and future course updates included in the price.

OneHorseLifePLUS goes further by placing the normally scattered subscription-based education into a structured 12-month curriculum. Each month connects biomechanics and theory with specific groundwork and riding subjects, so you know what to study, what to practise, and what comes next.

Online education does not remove your responsibility for safety, judgement, or correct application. When you need individual direction, a consultation or guided option should be added rather than guessing your way through the process.

These elements work together, but they have different functions.

Optimal Performance Program

OPP teaches the horse to recognize, connect with, and release unnecessary tension. The long-term objective is for relaxation to become a skill that the horse can increasingly access rather than something that depends entirely on the human.

Residual Tensions Release Therapy

RTRT uses precise communication through the bit to help the trainer locate and release residual tensions connected with particular parts or moments of a movement pattern. Entry-level RTRT can also be practised at a standstill or in hand, without riding.

Anna’s Riding Method

Anna’s Riding Method retrains the rider. It develops stability, posting and sitting trot, hands and contact, turning, transitions, canter, straightness, lateral work, collection, and the rider’s ability to move together with the horse without bracing or blocking the back.

Tendon-Based Movement

Tendon-Based Movement develops the horse as an elastic, connected system. Instead of relying predominantly on repeated muscular contraction, the training supports elastic energy storage, transfer, and release through the horse’s tendons, fascia, ligaments, spine, pelvis, and kinetic chains.

Together, these areas address the horse’s relaxation, the rider’s influence, and the organization of movement.

Individual Self-Study Courses

This is the foundation of OneHorseLife System. Choose an individual course when you have one clearly defined area that you want to study in-depth and in-detail in a tutorial, step-by-step and take-me-by-the-hand way that will answer all your questions that you ever had in that area of training. Here you and your horse will explore subjects such as Conscious Relaxation, conditioning and de-conditioning, neuroplasticity of behavioural responses, obedience, contact, the rider’s seat, the horse’s back, or Tendon-Based Movement. If needed contact us to book a free online consultation to best determine your starting point.

OneHorseLifePLUS

OneHorseLifePLUS is OneHorseLife subscription program that has been structured into a 12-month clear development pathway. It guides you through a planned progression of biomechanics, relaxation, groundwork, and riding. It is best for people who want to know exactly what they should learn and practise at each stage rather than navigating a large content library alone.

OneHorseLifeONE

OneHorseLifeONE is the complete lifetime personal-education pathway. It includes all the current personal-level OneHorseLife courses and future courses released within that level. It is designed for students who want the entire OneHorseLife System Toolbox rather than one selected solution. It does not automatically include individual or group online guidance, professional certification, or teaching rights.

All OneHorseLife courses include a limited level of personal support.

Anna and the designated members of the OneHorseLife teaching team are available to support our students and can be contacted at Contact@OneHorseLife.com. You may submit a short video together with a brief description of your work and what level you are at within OneHorseLife Course you are following, and we will be happy to let you know whether you are moving in the right direction and suggest the most appropriate next step.

This complimentary support is intended for short, focused questions. It does not include an extensive individual assessment, detailed video analysis, ongoing coaching, or the preparation of a personalised training plan.

A self-study course primarily gives you access to the educational materials and allows you to learn and practise at your own pace. Some products include lifetime access and future updates, but this does not automatically include regular live sessions or continuous individual guidance.

OneHorseLifePLUS provides a structured learning sequence and clear progression, so you always know what to study, what to practise, and what to do next.

For broader or more individualised support, you can separately book:

  • a supplementary personal consultation with an in-depth video analysis;
  • or a month of online guidance directly with Anna.

The support options available may vary depending on the course or program you choose.

If personal guidance is important to you, please review the exact description of the selected product or book a consultation before purchasing. During the consultation, we can help you choose both the most suitable educational pathway and the right level of support for you and your horse.

Because access to digital educational materials is usually provided immediately after purchase, digital product purchases are generally final, unless the individual offer states otherwise or applicable law requires otherwise.

No. Purchasing a personal or self-study course gives you permission to use the materials for your own non-commercial education and with your own horses. It does not provide professional teaching rights, certification, or permission to incorporate OneHorseLife methods into paid training, therapy, clinics, courses, or professional services.

Professionals who want to apply or teach the methods commercially must enter the relevant official OneHorseLife PRO Certification Pathway and receive the required authorization.

The PRO pathway is intended for trainers, riders, therapists, teachers, and animal professionals who want to develop genuine practical competence rather than simply repeat information from an online course.

You do not need to diagnose your horse, understand the complete system, or select a course alone.

Book a consultation with Anna or a designated expert from our website and let us look at your horse, your current challenges, your goals, and your previous training experience. Together, we will identify the most appropriate starting point and create a clear direction for your next steps.
