If your action has the source grounded in fear, the only final result that you can expect from taking this action is even more fear.
Fear is the way how ego controls you. I often see people making detailed plans about their horses and themselves with the attitude as if they were not happy or even disappointed with what they have today.
If you feel the urge to do something because you are afraid of something else or because you afraid that without this action something else won’t happen, this means that your ego is taking control over you. The only goal that ego wants is even more control over you. And more control needs more fear.
Even if the action looks like something positive, for example: you decide to work more with your horse or you decide to loose some weight, if the source of that action lies in fear the result always will be more fear, pain and disappointment.
If the source of your action comes from the field of life, the results of this action will bring you more happiness, joy and peace. This kind of actions people often name “passions”. If you think about doing something that comes from the field of life you immediately feel joy, excitement and you are innocently curious what will come out of your action. You are open for many possibilities and you are not afraid of changing something on the way. There is no fear of failure because there is no control and the goals are clear but not precise.
Your thoughts change from: “I have to teach my horse piaffer in 2 months”
into “I’d love to play with my horse today doing some piaffer exercises”
Life experience teaches us that making long-term plans is not working. I often see people planing their training up to smallest possible detail and in an advance. I smile. Because everything is changing so fast. We are developing and growing so fast.
I surely would not like to live according to the plans I could have made two, five or ten years ago.
Keep your goals clear, but don’t stick to detailed plans.
Stay open.
Draw a sketch of your training… and let it fill itself with all the possibilities the life will be offering you.
Live with your passion.
