I absolutely loved to see how rounder and more engaged body of Loreal, the horse-partner to my student Judy Kelly, has became during the past few months.
In the below pictures you can see how Calmness relaxes the muscles, and how relaxed muscles influence the movement of the horse.
The muscles are strong only when they are relaxed. The tensed muscle is like a clenched fist, when it’s clenched you cannot apply anymore force. Only from Calmness and relaxation the muscle can flex, but then, nano-second after that, it has to relax again to be ready for the next flexion.
Tensed muscles change movement patterns, they twist joints and can lead to serious health problems in the future. Tensed muscled make the body stiff, weak and prone to injuries.
On the other hand, movement realised with relaxed muscles can remove many health problems from the body, and improve the roundness, engagement and fitness of your horse.
When I looked at Loreal early this morning, I could admire how true these simple concepts are and how powerfully they are reflected by the horse’s body.
