Lightness should be an immanent part of riding and being with your horse.
Lightness is not a mystical Neverland that you will find yourself in by an accident. Lightness is not something that you will be given you by your horse after 10 years of riding thoughtless rounds in the riding arena and wandering without any plan.
It’s a MUST, before any other goals can be achieved.
But it’s you who has to be light first! Not your horse.
You have to be light before you can even ask your horse for any kind of lightness.
Are your thoughts clear?
Are your intentions pure?
Are you filled with calmness and consciousness?
Do you feel that no matter what happens next second you will stay at peace with yourself, your horse and other people?

I have two horses with total opposite personalities. A big bold friesian Marley and an underconfident PRE Toto. I have to be very careful when I am with them at the moment. Vanessa, thank you for sharing your experience with us! When being in the Here and Now with your horse and approaching him from the level of your Conscious Mind you don’t have to think about keeping the balance between being decided and light – you learn and see that it’s same.
