…each time I see how facing the simplest challenges that we have with our horses, like giving the hooves, changes everything in our relationship with them.
Many times I meet people who tell me about their problems with their horse during the trainings or hacking… I often ask: Tell me how does your horse give the hooves? And they are surprised.
Giving the hooves is a very important experience, both for a horse and a person. If the horse feels unsafe, uncertain or like he cannot trust you, he will not give you his legs willingly and calmly. Simply because he sees that he has no support in you and he WILL NEED THIS LEG TO RUN AWAY when something happens!
It’s impossible to “work” on the great relationship in the training arena while doing advanced exercises, if everything before that is not as sweet and easy as honey&milk.
Many people think that they should work on the problems with their horses. In fact, I have experienced so many times that it is enough to provide a small change in a person, and this change can create a totally new situation in which the problems from the past will simply disappear.
DO NOT TAKE THE LEG, JUST TOUCH IT, and
BREATHE and SUPPORT THE LEG TO REST
(instead of trying to keep it still or immobile)
