The role of the horse trainer is not to impose their awareness on their horse’s movements. Your role as your horse trainer is to support your horse in exploring and learning about his body and his body awareness.
When you look at your horse with the judging eye looking for the things to correct or reinforce, you apply your awareness to your horses movements. In this state you can only TEACH your horse new movements and new tricks that your mind designed. This process shrinks your horse’s body awareness.
Small body awareness means that your horse knows only several possible ways to move: collection, extension, working gaits. Big body awareness means that your horse knows all the shades of the movements between all the possible ways to move and is curious to explore and experience them all.
It is very interesting and we know it from our experience that all dressage movements emerge spontaneously and naturally if the horse has a big body awareness.
Many people think that to perform dressage exercises their horses need more muscles. This is not true to the extent that people like to believe. If you start to build up your horses muscles in a way that also shrinks your horse’s body awareness, the result will be simple:
Your horse will have MORE BODY to manage with LESS BODY AWARENESS !!!
It’s very easy to imagine that in such a state it is very easy for the contusions and injuries to follow.
Expand your horse’s Body Awareness and allow his awareness to shape his body in the most beautiful way.
